and another is defending life after fire broke out at a care house yesterday.Witnesses described a surge and fire in a local’s space at Woodlands View Care House in Stevenage, Hertfordshire.Five other people were saved from the building and required to hospital with injuries, while another 10 were assisted out by firefighters.There were 41 individuals in the structure when the flames began to spread.Emergency services including two air ambulances and a Hazardous Action group were contacted us to the home on Magpie Crescent at 4.30 pm.In a statement Hertfordshire County

Council stated:’Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service were contacted us to reports of a fire in one location of Woodlands View care house in Stevenage at 4.30 yesterday afternoon. Eight fire truck were sent out to the scene. All 41 homeowners, personnel and visitors, were evaluated by the Ambulance Service. The fire was out by 5pm.

‘Seven people were taken to hospital and sadly one man in his 80’s has actually died. One person remains in a crucial condition in hospital.

‘Hertfordshire County Council social services continue to work closely with the care home service provider, HC- One, to ensure the welfare of citizens affected by the fire.

‘The care house suppliers are doing everything possible to get in touch with relatives of homeowners to keep them updated with the current details.’
